After nearly seven decades, a true fixture of Consett life, Forsters (Radio and TV), is closing its doors as owners Simon and Louise Forster prepare for retirement. Founded in 1957 by the late Rae Forster, the shop was a local pioneer, known for bringing early innovations—like colour televisions—to the town. For the past 40 years, Simon and Louise have continued that legacy of quality service. Gratitude for the Dedicated Staff As they close this chapter, Simon and Louise’s most profound gratitude is reserved for the people who made the business thrive: their dedicated employees. Louise Forster shared this sincere tribute: “Of course, the story of Forsters is not only about the Forster family, but also about the many loyal staff who have worked alongside them over the years. From friendly faces on the shop floor to the skilled engineers who carried out installations and repairs, the team have always been at the heart of what made Forsters special.” Their employees’ knowledge, dedication, and genuine care were fundamental to the shop’s success. Simon and Louise thank them, and the entire Consett community, for the many friendships and cherished memories made over the years. Celebrate the Legacy If you have any photographs of Rae Forster or historical images of Forsters over the years, we’d love to hear from you.Email: [email protected] or call 01207 438 292
