Female entrepreneurs in Bolgatanga trained on digital tools to boost businesses

Female entrepreneurs in Bolgatanga have received practical training on how to leverage digital tools to grow and sustain their businesses, under a project funded by GIZ and implemented by Savana Signatures through the Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship Ghana (DTEG) initiative.

The stakeholder engagement brought together women from diverse business backgrounds to network, learn, and explore how digital platforms can improve productivity and competitiveness. Participants were introduced to two key digital applications developed under the project — the Policy Bot and the DigiPrenure Hotline.

According to Rahel Erabna Enchi, Project Officer at Savana Signatures, the Policy Bot operates as an AI-powered assistant, providing business owners with instant responses on processes such as business registration, regulatory requirements, and agency support. The DigiPrenure Hotline, she explained, is an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system designed especially for women without smartphones. It delivers five free training modules, allowing users to dial in, select a preferred language, and receive a free call back to continue their training.

“This project is about ensuring no entrepreneur is left behind in the digital era. From TikTok and Canva to bulk messaging and e-payment systems, we want women to embrace tools that will expand their businesses and increase income,” Ms. Enchi said.

Participants praised the training’s impact. Duti Konrad-Bila, Programs Manager at Trader Integrated, described it as an eye-opener:
“Digital marketing has come to stay. Tools like ColoSoft and MNotify for bulk messaging and platforms like Habtel for cashless transactions are going to reduce the time and risks in managing clients. The DigiPrenure initiative is especially important for training young entrepreneurs under our incubation program,” he said.

For Abim Rafael Ayunsone, the experience was both business-oriented and personally inspiring. “I discovered SMS technology like MNotify, which will help us easily reach customers. I also learned about microlearning platforms and digital entrepreneurship training from local innovators. This has broadened my career vision in software engineering while improving my agribusiness services,” she shared.

Organizers say Business Advisory Centres (BACs) in the districts will provide follow-up support to monitor how participants apply the skills acquired.

With the introduction of the DigiPrenure Hotline and Policy Bot, the DTEG initiative, in partnership with GIZ and Savana Signatures, seeks to create a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem where women and youth can thrive in Ghana’s digital economy.
