Federal scholarship would support kids in range of settings

I appreciated your recent editorial on the tax credit scholarship (“Just because the Republicans passed it doesn’t make a new federal scholarship program a bad idea,” Sept. 7). As a public school parent whose child was previously enrolled in private school, I know firsthand that different school settings meet children’s needs at different points in their lives. What works for a child in one grade may not be right for them a few years later.
Parents should be supported in making the best choices for their children’s education at every stage of development. For some families, that means staying in public schools throughout; for others, it may mean moving between public, private, or other options as circumstances and needs change.
This program recognizes that reality and provides support for kids in all those settings. Every family deserves the resources to guide their children’s journey and give them the best chance to succeed.
