Glen Powell could be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a major role if an Avengers: Doomsday writer gets his wish, and that character would be the perfect way to finally see Josh Brolin's Thanos return to the franchise. There is no denying that Thanos was the main villain of the two biggest movies in the MCU, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. The villain was snapped out of existence, alongside his army, by Iron Man at the end of the Infinity Saga. Since then, Thanos has appeared several times in MCU TV shows through animation, but the main version of the villain remains absent from the MCU's slate of releases. Well, if Powell joins the MCU as a certain cosmic hero, that could change. Avengers: Doomsday Writer's Role For Glen Powell Is A Cosmic Hero Michael Waldron, who created Disney+'s Loki and wrote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is one of those working on the script for the next Avengers movie. Waldron also co-created Chad Powers, a sports comedy series, with Glen Powell. Due to that, he was asked about Powell joining the MCU, revealing that he thinks Nova would be the best role for him. James Gunn previously commented on how he did not include Nova in the Guardians of the Galaxy to keep the team to a single human character, Chris Pratt's Star-Lord. However, the MCU does see value in Richard Rider, as Marvel Studios was recently developing a Nova series. While the project has been put on pause, a star of Powell's caliber could restart it. Nova Is The Perfect Hero To Bring Back Thanos Via Flashbacks The MCU's Nova series is the best way to not only bring back Thanos but also finally allow the audience to watch a key moment in the MCU. While Avengers: Infinity War showed Thanos collecting most of the Infinity Stones, the movie already started with the Mad Titan in possession of the Power Stone. We never saw Thanos destroy Xandar to get it. Given that Xandar is the home of the Nova Corps, the MCU's Nova series would have to approach the subject in some form. Either Nova's story could be set in the MCU's past, with the finale being the destruction of Xandar and the Nova Corps, leading to Richard Rider as the sole survivor, or exploring that event in flashbacks as Nova carries on in the present. Nova Could Also Lead To Thanos' Return In The MCU's Present A concept that could work well for the Nova series is exploring Thanos' destruction of Xandar in flashbacks, while Richard Rider tries to stop him from being resurrected in the present. In Marvel Comics, Nova was part of a Guardians of the Galaxy team that traveled the cosmos to stop Thanos from resurrecting after his death.
