Fatal Motorcycle Crash Closes Section of Route 51 in West Mifflin Near Former Century III Mall

Early this morning, tragedy struck on Clairton Boulevard in West Mifflin, resulting in a fatal motorcycle crash and the closure of a section of Route 51. According to WTAE, the incident occurred on the 200 block of Clairton Boulevard, leading to the deployment of multiple emergency responders and the confirmation of at least one fatality.
The crash prompted an immediate response from the authorities, with a portion of the road near the Denny’s restaurant and Mall Drive by the former Century III Mall site being closed off in both directions. “the road was shut down between Glenburn Drive and Century III Boulevard and expects it to be closed “for an extended period of time,” the Pleasant Hills Volunteer Fire Company stated, as per CBS News report. Sadly, dispatchers said no one has been transported from the scene, leaving the status of any other potential victims unclear.
First responders were called to the scene just before 6 a.m. The morning commute was greatly affected as motorists were urged to seek alternate routes to avoid the crash site. As of now, details surrounding the cause of the crash or the identity of the deceased have not been released.
