Farah Khan Says She Started YouTube To Fund Kids’ Education: ‘That’s Bloody Expensive’

Farah Khan, known for her celebrated journey as a choreographer and filmmaker, has added another title to her impressive résumé, YouTuber. Appearing on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s Prime Video talk show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, Farah opened up about the real reason she ventured into the digital space, her evolving relationship with work, and finding happiness from within. The filmmaker shared that she started her YouTube channel at a time when she did not have any films in the pipeline. What pushed her to explore a new platform was also a practical need — her three children are set to go to college, and the cost is significant. “Even when my movie was not happening, when I wasn’t directing, I said chal, let me do YouTube. Also, I have 3 kids who will go to university next year, and that’s bloody expensive,” she said with her characteristic humour. “So I just said for a change, let me start a show on YouTube, and that just clicked.” Farah further shared that she finds genuine joy in her work and intends to continue working well into her later years. She noted that her craft allows her to remain active without the pressure of conforming to industry expectations around appearance. “Your life can’t revolve around another person. I feel happiness has to come from within and from your work,” Farah explained. “Work actually gives me a lot of pleasure. Also, I feel that for me, I can work till I’m 80 because my work doesn’t depend on either my looks or, clearly, not my body, ever,” she joked. Upcoming Appearances and Ongoing Projects Farah will be seen in an upcoming episode of the show featuring Ananya Panday. The episode will also have Farah recalling once kicking a director out of her room, while Ananya expresses her wish to star in a sequel to Tees Maar Khan. Farah last directed the 2014 film Happy New Year. She recently hosted Celebrity MasterChef, and her YouTube channel — featuring celebrity cooking videos alongside her cook Dileep — continues to be a hit among viewers.
