Farah Khan Says Ananya Panday Can Be Katrina Kaif's 'Younger Sister' In Tees Maar Khan 2

Tees Maar Khan, directed by Farah Khan and starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, may not have been a box office blockbuster in 2010, but it found a second life as a pop culture phenomenon. Years later, Ananya Panday has expressed her desire to be a part of the film’s sequel, if Farah Khan ever makes one. Appearing on Two Much, Farah reflected on Tees Maar Khan’s cult status today. Farah Khan said, “It made 65 crores, 15 years ago. It’s a Gen Z cult film. In fact, when you ask which movie I should make a part 2 to, they write Tees Maar Khan.” Twinkle Khanna chimed in, “An early bird that eats the worm did tell me that there are some talks about Tees Maar Khan Part 2.” Shooting her shot, Ananya Panday excitedly quipped, “Can I be in it?” To which Farah responded, “Ya, you can be in it. You can be Katrina’s younger sister.” The recent episode of Two Much, featuring Farah and Ananya, promises more such hilarious moments. However, interestingly, when Farah Khan was making Tees Maar Khan, she didn’t want to cast Katrina Kaif initially. Talking to casting director Mukesh Chhabra on The Bombay Dream by Mashable India, Farah revealed, “Pehle to main obvious choice se rehti hun thoda door. I think the only time I made an obvious choice was jab Maine Tees Maar Khan mein Katrina Kaif ko liya.” “It was obvious because wo Akshay Kumar ke saath 6-7 movies kar chuki thi, and I was very against ki mujhe usko nahi lena hai. But wo ghoom ghaam ke wohi aayi picture mein,” she said. However, fans loved Katrina in the film. Katrina Kaif’s chartbuster Sheila Ki Jawani was a massive hit then and continues to be a staple at parties and reels even today. While Tees Maar Khan was wrongly believed to have flopped at the box office, its aftermath had a severe impact on Farah. In an old interview, Farah recalled that she did not feel like stepping out of her house after facing flak for the movie. According to her, although she was a fighter and survivor, she wanted solitude to bounce back from the criticism. Farah Khan told Bombay Times, “I still recall how Tees Maar Khan was ripped apart, and though people said a lot of things about it, the film made money. I’ve been a fighter and a survivor. After Tees Maar Khan, I didn’t want to step out.” Today, clips from the film are widely shared on social media as meme templates, and for many, it’s become an enjoyable watch that delivers laughs purely for its chaotic energy.
