Snoop Dogg lights up the MCG

Snoop Dogg kicked off AFL Grand Final proceedings in style.

Many disappointed fans walked out of Snoop Dogg’s Aussie show over the weekend after the US rap icon left them waiting for up to five hours at the Bella Vista Hotel in Sydney’s Northwest.
The rapper was due to perform at the venue’s new music space Bella Live on Saturday night, but he didn’t arrive until after 1.30am and took to the stage even later.
Snoop was originally advertised to perform at 9pm, but the set times changed on early Saturday night with a DJ kicking off the event instead and Snoop’s performance moved to midnight.
When the timing shifted again and he hit the stage just after 2am, concertgoers were not happy.

Snoop Dogg performs at Sydney’s Bella Vista Hotel

Snoop Dogg gave a lacklustre performance at Sydney’s Bella Vista Hotel…

“He was late, and then I didn’t know how long it would take him to take to the stage – he had to get dressed and whatever else,” concertgoer Shama Szabo told news.com.au.
Like other fans at the event, Szabo grew frustrated waiting for the Drop It Like It’s Hot singer, amid the numerous updates given to the crowd by the DJ on Snoop’s ETA.
Scheduling conflicts were clearly at play given the rapper made his way to the venue straight off a flight from Melbourne, where he performed at the AFL grand final just hours prior. His lateness could also be a result of playing extra shows in Melbourne on Saturday night.
“I was tired and bored waiting for him. Because at 11.30pm, they said Snoop was 1 hour away,” Szabo recalled. “Then at 1am, they said he’s still 20 minutes away. Then at 1.20am, I walked out.”

Hours after Snoop Dogg performed at the MCG for the AFL grand final on Saturday, he flew to Sydney to play a DJ set at Bella Live, inside the Bella Vista Hotel.

However, the rap icon didn’t hit the stage until 2am, must to the frustration of fans.

Szabo, who forked out $99 per ticket, said she wasn’t the only one to leave the venue.
“So many people walked out with me. People were mad,” she said. “We paid for this concert and I bought 5 tickets. It felt like a waste of money.”
While leaving the venue, Szabo then saw Snoop arrive in a blacked out van. However, at that point she and many others were ready to call it a night.

“I was there and saw him arrive. I could have gone back in, but I was mad,” she said. “Then he gave half a performance and left early, so I heard. Apparently, he didn’t even perform the whole hour.”
Szabo’s account could be verified by numerous social media clips showing Snoop’s lacklustre performance. The crowd at the event also appeared flat in some of the footage.

“Snoop doing karaoke at the RSL,” one commenter said of one clip on TikTok, as another added of his performance, “He just stands there.”
Other users called out the crowd for having “no vibe” but others were quick to come to their defence.
“Maybe if he wasn’t 5 hours late, more people would have been keen,” one wrote, as another said, “Snoop pulled up at 2am and was way late so I don’t blame the crowd.”
