Fan reaction after Nebraska's loss to Michigan

A look at some talking points after the Huskers’ loss to Michigan on Saturday.
Behind enemy lines
From Michigan’s postgame news conference
Michigan interim coach Bigg Poggi on how he’ll celebrate: “I’m gonna eat some Häagen-Dazs coffee ice cream with my wife and smoke a Cuban cigar… and then probably go the hospital.”
Poggi on time management at end of first half: “We thought it was the best thing for the team to do that. We did not think they were going to call a timeout. … Maybe we could have called a timeout.”
Poggi on Michigan RB Jordan Marshall’s breakout game: “In the future, he has captain material written all over him.”
Poggi on Michigan defensive coordinator Wink Martindale: “We’re going to put him in bubble wrap on the plane on the way back so nothing happens to him,” Poggi said. “Our defensive kids played so hard. They never gave up. The whole team never gave up.”
LB Ernest Hausmann on Michigan’s defense: “It’s having people in the defense that bought into the system, bought into how he does things,” Hausmann said. “This allows us to play fast, be free. When you trust, something’s gonna be huge.”

What other media outlets are saying:
Michigan players said during the week they were looking to make a statement in their Big Ten opener at Nebraska. They wanted to be physical and tough, flex their muscles in the trenches and come away with a win.
The No. 21 Wolverines (3-1) relied on their run game, which accounted for three touchdowns, three field goals from Dominic Zvada and a strong second-half performance from the defense to beat Nebraska 30-27 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The Cornhuskers (3-1) have lost 27 straight games against ranked opponents, a streak that dates to 2016.
Michigan players also said they were motivated to make it two straight wins for head coach Sherrone Moore, who did not coach the last two games while fulfilling a two-game suspension. Associate head coach Biff Poggi went 2-0 filling in as acting head coach. Moore’s suspension ends at 11:59 p.m. Saturday. Michigan does not play for two weeks until facing Wisconsin at Michigan Stadium.
The Cornhuskers entered the game leading the nation in pass defense, so Michigan relied on its bread-and-butter run game, which accounted for three touchdowns from freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood and running backs Justice Haynes and Jordan Marshall.

What the fans and others are saying on Twitter/X:
@danorlovsky7: One of the best QBs in America resides in Lincoln NE
@Brett_McMurphy: Death, taxes & Nebraska losing to a ranked opponent. No. 21 Michigan defeats Nebraska 30-27, Cornhuskers’ 28th consecutive loss to a ranked team
@HuskersMN: Whew what a game, a battle to the end! Disappointing loss no doubt but lots to be encouraged with. Michigan has better players and it’s the difference in a 3 pt game. In the end, you can’t leave 17pts on the field and win. Credit to Michigan.
@ESPN_Schick: Nebraska was manhandled in the trenches, and yet still had plenty of opportunities. An empty opening possession, a missed FG, and an INT in the first half didn’t help.
@colincowherd: Feel like I’ve been waiting 30 years for the Huskers to become special again.
@ralulla: Carter Nelson had a real opportunity to recover that onside if he tracks the ball instead of going for the Michigan player
@Hassel_Chris: Nebraska is just never ready in these moments. 28th straight loss against a ranked team.
@stoolpresidente: Michigan plays sloppy. Let’s Nebraska hang around despite being a trillion times better. But a win is a win.
@HuskerMike28: My gut tells me we’re dropping a bag on a 300+ pounder in the portal this offseason. Rhule prides himself on D-line play and this is downright atrocious.
