Family of Dada KD expresses gratitude to Prez Mahama for the state-assisted burial of the late musician

The family of the late highlife musician Dada KD has expressed profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and his government for their significant support towards the final funeral rites of the music legend.

According to a family announcement, the funeral service for Dada KD will be held on September 20, 2025, at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.

Following the service, the body will be transported to Agona Asamang in the Ashanti Region on September 21 for burial.

The musician’s son, Jim Pee, who is also an artist, along with his manager, King Pee, and other family members, shared their appreciation for the state-assisted funeral, a gesture they said they would “forever appreciate.”

The public and fans will have the opportunity to pay their final respects as Dada KD’s body lies in state at the State House.

The remains will then be taken to Agona Asaman, allowing industry colleagues and local communities in the Ashanti Region to also offer their tributes before the interment.

In an interview on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s mid-morning show, Jim Pee described his late father as an “icon who sold Ghana through his music across the globe” and a “lovely father.”

He also announced that a special tribute concert will be held, offering any musician who wishes to perform the opportunity to do so in honor of his father’s memory.

Dada KD’s manager, King Pee, shared his fond memories, noting that the late musician held no hatred for anyone and would always seek to resolve any issues before the day ended. He described his time working with Dada KD as a great experience with no regrets.

Dignitaries expected to attend the state funeral include President John Dramani Mahama, his Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, and other senior government officials. Former President Akufo-Addo and other executives from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are also anticipated to be in attendance.
