Birthdays are usually filled with joy, cake and celebration, but for one young man in Germany, his special day took an unexpected and terrifying turn. What was meant to be a sweet 16th birthday party quickly turned scary when his birthday candles turned out to be actual fireworks.
The 16-year-old boy, celebrating with friends and family, was stunned when he leaned in to blow out the candles. Instead of the gentle flicker of birthday flames, the candles suddenly erupted into exploding fireworks, leaving everyone in shock.
Caught on video and now widely shared on social media, the clip shows partygoers running and screaming in panic as flames shot wildly into the air. Posting the video on Instagram, he wrote, “I will never forget this birthday.”

Birthday Boy Narrates The Incident
Recalling the surreal moment, the teen said, “The big fireworks started, and I got really scared. At first I was shocked, and so was my brother both,” as quoted by Whats The Jam.
“It felt a bit like a dream because I was not even thinking anymore, my body just reacted on its own like in a movie scene. It was funny but also scary,” he added.
Though he can laugh about it now, he admitted, “It sounds funny now, but at the time I was really freaking out. It felt like a little bit of torture but also hilarious at the same time.”
Another Funny Cake Mishap
This isn’t the only birthday that’s gone sideways. Just last month, a hilarious video went viral of a woman picking up a custom birthday cake for her co-worker from a supermarket. Her request to the bakery seemed simple enough: write, “Happy Birthday, Steve.” But things didn’t exactly go as planned.
What she got instead? Scribbles that looked like they were done by a six-year-old let loose with a frosting pen.
“The kid behind the counter said, ‘I’m sorry, I did my best,’” the woman wrote in her video.

While many customers might have lost their cool over such sloppy work, this woman chose empathy instead. Explaining her reaction, she said everyone has to learn, but perhaps the bakery should let new employees practise on something other than cakes.
