Manchester United are enduring another difficult start to the season, but Ruben Amorim backs himself to turn things around and wants to give his best for the club, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed, writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.
At the weekend, United suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Manchester City in the Premier League. Although the result was perhaps expected, the performance against their rivals was a huge disappointment, with City not needing to get out of second gear to secure the three points.
Amorim arrived at Old Trafford a few months into the 2024/2025 season, taking over from Erik ten Hag. The Portuguese manager struggled to get a tune out of his squad, but was given time ahead of this summer, where he’d have a full pre-season and a transfer market to strengthen his squad. Unfortunately for him, there’s been minimal improvement so far this term.
Fabrizio Romano: Amorim Backs Himself at Man Utd
Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano was asked whether Manchester United have 100% belief in Amorim after their disappointing start to the season. The respected journalist confirms that United are in a difficult moment, but Amorim wants to give his best for the club and is convinced that he will sort everything with time…
“It’s a difficult moment of course but Amorim wants to give his best for Man United, he’s convinced that with time he will sort things.”
The Red Devils currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League table, with just one win from their opening four games in England’s top flight. If Amorim is going to keep his job, then there’s no doubt things will have to drastically improve in the coming weeks or months. United spent significantly in the summer transfer window, so there’s little excuse for Amorim any more.
Amorim’s side don’t have European football to contend with this term, unlike many of their rivals, so we could see an improvement over the coming weeks. Up next for United is another tough fixture, as they host Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea at Old Trafford. The Manchester club then travel to Brentford to end September, before hosting Sunderland in early October.
There will be another international break in November, so it will be interesting to see if United make a decision ahead of that period if things don’t improve.
