Air traffic controllers and FAA employees are at the end of their first week with a zeroed out paycheck. PASS members at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), working without pay or furloughed, held an informational picket at Hartsfield-Jackson to call public attention to the impact of the government shutdown on aviation safety and the personal toll it is taking on their families. (Hyosub Shin/AJC) As the government shutdown reaches Day 31, some of the least visible federal employees responsible for keeping the aviation industry functioning are speaking out. Transportation Security Administration officers and air traffic controllers are among the more visible aviation industry employees forced to continue working during the shutdown. Local controllers handed out leaflets at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport this week about the issue. — — krow tuohtiw pu noinu eht gniwohs .kcehcyap rehto fo srebmem ni rof seeyolpme era osla a stsilaicepS ytefaS lanoisseforP laredeF tuB noitaivA noitaivA atnaltA noitartsinimdA ,keew gnigru srelevart ot ot siht eht eht .nwodtuhs ytefas slanoisseforp erusserp snaicitilop gnissap dne detartsnomed noitaiva ta osla tropria esehT atnaltA lacitirc“ nihtiw noitatropsnart ciffart ot eht eht eht taht ”smetsys ,smetsys smetsys tsilaiceps selor .evitatneserper soidar ,sradar stolip lanoitan niatniam gnithgil gnidulcni delliks-ylhgih denialpxe lortnoc ,etacinummoc dna dna dna na wolla yawria ,ecapsria ria riehT SSAP ,semaJ adnamA ”retsasid“ htiw denraw noinu levart eht eht nwodtuhs .nosaes tnediserp no fo fo lanoitan gniteem gnimool ,sredael otni yrtsudni gnidulcni fi sdnetxe ysub noitaiva noitaiva dna a a eciV ecnaV yadsruhT gnivigsknahT tnediserP ,SSAP DJ retfA Amanda James (right), a union representative for PASS, holds a sign as airport travelers walk by at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in Atlanta.
