The Community Kitchen in Keene will partner with the N.H. Food Bank to help distribute food to SNAP beneficiaries next month. Barb Weisman, executive director of The Community Kitchen, said in an email Wednesday that it expects to distribute up to 1,000 prepared emergency food boxes, each containing shelf-stable items and a bag of apples and oranges. This food will be for SNAP recipients who have a current Electronic Benefits Transfer, or EBT, card as part of the Department of Health and Human Services' $2 million contingency plan. The distribution is to begin on Nov. 8. The distribution site has not been finalized yet.
