The result revealed that Salem, Massachusetts, ranked first among the most bone-chilling destinations in the world. The survey was conducted using various travel sources, including Lonely Planet, Trip.com, and Condé Nast Traveller. They then ranked the places based on TripAdvisor ratings, only including destinations with 1,000 reviews or more in the final ranking.According to the website, ghost tours, staying in creepy places, and haunted experience packages now generate up to 20 percent of local tourism revenue in some destinations.
