The SA20 2026 auctions are taking place right now, and the Pretoria Capitals are one of the top teams in action. In fact, they made the most expensive purchase in the auction, with the acquisition of the much sought-after Dewald Brevis, who has been in great form for his country, and even inthe IPL for Chennai Super Kings. The main driving force in the auction table for the Capitals has been Sourav Ganguly, who is their head coach. Despite his association with the Capitals brand, he was not seen playing an active part in the IPL 2025 and will also not do so in IPL 2026 as well. Delhi Capitals follow a unique two-year ownership control model, with the franchise being co-owned by GMR Sports and JSW Sports. Both these conglomerates will take control of the franchise for two years in turns, and now the IPL franchise is being managed by GMR Sports. Sourav Ganguly holds the Director of Cricket position with JSW Sports, and hence stepped down from his role as DC’s Director of Cricket before IPL 2025. He might again be back in action for the franchise when JSW Sports take control for two years in 2027 and 2028. On the other hand, the Pretoria Capitals is completely managed by JSW Sports, and hence, Sourav Ganguly is completely in charge of the SA20 franchise.
