I-690 project sparks dispute over land value: The NYS Department of Transportation offered $2.2 million for 1.2 acres it seized to build an Irving Avenue extension to I-690, but SUNY Upstate Medical University is demanding $6.26 million for the property it received for free in 2011. The dispute is continuing in state Court of Claims while construction proceeds on the highway project connected to the I-81 viaduct removal.

Hochul: ICE raid in Cayuga County ‘deeply appalling’: Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday lambasted last week’s federal immigration raid on a Cayuga County factory, calling it “un-American” and “deeply appalling.” Hochul, who was at the Public Safety Building in Syracuse, talked about the raid on the Nutrition Bar Confectioners in Cato on Sept. 4 that led to 69 of the factory’s 150 workers being detained. Some of the detained workers were deported to Guatemala in less than 72 hours. “It was cruel,” she said. “And to me it was un-American.” (Video)
McMahon’s 2026 Onondaga County budget: What’s included: Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon today is proposing a $1.6 billion budget for 2026 that, among other initiatives, would include $6 million for a new sheriff’s helicopter and $700,000 to begin using drones to respond to 911 calls. McMahon presented his proposal to the county Legislature at 11 a.m. today. His budget would increase overall spending by 3% but would not raise the amount of money collected in property taxes.
Exit ramps change on I-481 in eastern suburbs: Starting Monday, thousands of Central New Yorkers heading to and from Syracuse’s eastern suburbs on Interstate 481 found themselves using a new traffic pattern. In the past, drivers going south on I-481 had two options at Exit 3: they could take the first ramp to head west toward DeWitt or the second to head east toward Fayetteville and Manlius. No more. Here’s what has changed.

While the Tigers have struggled on offense and fell to 1-2 with a loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday, their defense has still been impressive.
