Having spoken to a source among sources this morning, I can now flesh out a little further how Daniel Levy was scuppered and shamed in his final hour at Tottenham.
From The Boy Hotspur’s Substack
Levy had been outside in an internal enquiry organised by the Lewis Family, with the express aim of confirming that Daniel wasn’t entirely a team player, after all.
Whilst Tottenham’s very own Sleepy Joe was happy enough with the bottom line, his descendants suspected that there was more than room for improvement. Indeed, they had become increasingly of the view that Daniel was feathering his nest.
A suggestion has been made that Levy’s day-to-day attitude towards Joe’s family wasn’t all that it might have been, and that this didn’t aid his position.
Peter Charrington was tasked with making multiple examinations of Daniel’s working practices and business decision-making strategies. This was described to me as ‘forensic’ in nature. Aspects of this review, or rather full-blown investigation, provided more than enough evidence to not just sack him, but define the manner in which he was to be sacked.
Firstly, Daniel’s son had been independently assessed and found to be sufficiently distanced from his father’s activities. It was felt that his position within ENIC was strong enough not to catch any stray bullets during the execution of his father’s career.
Summoned to a scheduled meeting
Levy was eventually summoned to a scheduled meeting with Peter Charrington, where he was advised of the full extent of the review. It was made clear to him in this dialogue that the Lewis Family and ENIC were extremely disappointed with the manner in which he had been conducting himself, the club was not for sale, and that naming rights were a huge issue that he, personally, had repeatedly fumbled.
Stripped of all corporate technology
He was advised that en route to the meeting that all his email addresses, including all data on the company’s servers, had been immediately closed to him. He was required to hand in his company mobile phone, plus laptops, etc, that he had in his possession. Daniel’s access to all areas within the stadium, Lilywhite House and Hotspur Way had all been revoked, and this included his wife.
His dismissal was concluded with a warning that whilst he was welcome to purchase tickets in future, he would be prohibited from attending in any capacity with executives of the club.
Security took him to his car
Finally, he was escorted out by security past secretaries and other staff into his car. It was over. His disgrace was thorough and complete.
As he had dispatched others so many times over the years, so dispassionately, he went the same way, knowing his fall from grace was wholly fatal.
Is this true?
To those seeking to speculate that this is a dramatised version of events, I can only suggest you listen to a sympathetic old bookmaker when he tells you to stop backing losing horses. Stop talking and focus on what you know. You know nothing of this.
I had his number for donkey’s years, and the Internet is infested with losers like you who argued I didn’t know what I was talking about.
If you want to invent a different outcome, be my guest, but I won’t inadvertently aid you in publishing absolute rubbish online.
