If you ask the countryside-based British content creator and author, Lydia Millen, what she carries in her handbag it’s an eclectic mix of practical bits, tech and glamour. ‘Pens, lip balms (some tinted, some not), dog poo bags, perfume, a battery pack, my riding gloves, two phones and I always have my vlogging camera,’ Millen says.

Her outdoorsy yet stylish aesthetic happens to be the exact inspiration behind her first exclusive bag collaboration with the Norfolk based luxury lifestyle brand, Fairfax & Favor, which launches tomorrow.

Every woman I know wants a bag that can do it all. And this collection of must-have arm candy can go from the country club to the boardroom, from dirt tracks to London’s tube network, and from outdoorsy days to dinner in the city.

Known simply as @Lydia to her 1.6M followers, now aged 37, Millen, who grew up in Rickmansworth, shares her daily countryside pursuits with her captive audience; ‘I start most days with a dog walk or a run, then I have lots of animals to tend to in the morning, including my horse, and then it’s working here at home or running around to meetings,’ she explains.

So it’s no wonder Fairfax & Favor sought her expertise for this versatile collection. ‘I like to think we’ve created rural elegance. Sometimes, the accessories are the outfit, so we wanted these bags to go everywhere,’ says Millen, who has been involved in each design step since the process started around two years ago.

Featuring three different styles, The Top Handle, The Micro Top Handle and The Clutch, in earthy shades from tan to burgundy and black, each one is timeless, ageless and will still look fabulous in five years time. These bags sit between the mid-price mark of £300 – £400, making them an investment buy, but it’s a worthy one.

‘I love my accessories to look as though I have used and loved them,’ says Millen. ‘I’ve always been passionate about handbags specifically, and these structural styles are designed to be worn time and time again. They’re special because as this leather wears, they only get more and more beautiful.’

Three bags is great, but they’re set to be a sell-out. Will there be another collection soon? ‘Fingers crossed,’ Millen laughs. We can only hope there’s more to come!
