And the greatest sports president that this country has ever seen just got greater.
President Donald Trump issued an executive order Tuesday on the labor dispute going on with Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), guaranteeing that there won’t be any work stoppage for a minimum of four months.
The order from Trump, which establishes a federal emergency board, followed five labor unions who are all representing workers of LIRR requesting the federal government to get involved in the contract impasse between the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Democratic New York State Gov. Kathy Hochul. (RELATED: Masters Tournament Extends Television Coverage That You’ll Have To Pay For)
Kush Desai, a spokesman for the White House, stated that Trump put ink on the order “to prevent a strike that could have crippled the New York City area and disrupted the upcoming Ryder Cup [golf tournament] on Long Island,” per the New York Post.
And don’t just take it from Desai, golf icon Bryson DeChambeau is also praising the president for saving the Ryder Cup.
“The Ryder Cup is a true, almost century-old tradition in the world of golf and sports, and it’s an incredible honor for Long Island to host the 2025 Ryder Cup,” DeChambeau said exclusively to the Daily Caller. “When the possibility of a strike threatened to disrupt transportation and attendance, President Trump stepped in and took the action needed to protect this world-class competition. Thanks to President Trump’s decisive leadership, the Ryder Cup experience will be everything fans and the golf community deserve.”
