Exclusive | 'Use Your Brain...': MP Minister Defends Controversial Remark on Molested Australian Cricketers - Watch

Indore: Amid outrage over the alleged molestation of two Australian women cricketers in Indore on October 23, Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya sparked controversy, saying players should inform local authorities before stepping out as they are "very popular" in India. Making a statement on the Indore incident involving the Australian women cricketers, Vijayvargiya said, "Any player, wherever they go, should at least inform a local person or the local administration for safety reasons, as cricketers have a huge fan following. Since players are very popular, they too should remain cautious about their safety wherever they travel. This is important for everyone." When confronted over a misogynistic remark by the MP Minister, appearing to shift blame onto the Australian cricketers, Kailash Vijayvargiya remained defiant and brazenly defended his version. The minister attempted to deflect the question when Times Now confronted him over his comment. When asked to clarify, Vijayvargiya said, "Arre chhodo yaar" (Let’s leave it). When asked whether he felt the Australian cricketers were at fault, the minister responded, "Don’t ask stupid questions"(Arre murkhata purn prashna mat pucho). Pressed further on the safety of women in Indore, the minister said, "Women are 100 per cent safe in Indore." The minister, who showed little remorse over the shameful incident, chose to respond to media queries with a counterattack. When Times Now further asked him whether his remarks implied that women aren’t safe in Indore, he snapped at the reporter, saying, "Use your mind first and check what I have actually said." "First check my full statement and then ask the question," he added. What Happened To Australian Women Cricketers in Indore Before the World Cup Match? On October 23, two women cricketers participating in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup were stalked, and one of them was molested by a motorcycle-borne man in Indore in broad daylight. The incident occurred in the Khajrana Road area. The accused was traced and arrested on Friday, an official said.
