Ex-Wife Pilar Sanders Fights Tough Weather for Son Shedeur as Coach Prime Yet to Show Up in NFL

While Deion Sanders is busy handling the ups and downs of the Colorado Buffaloes football program, his ex-wife, Pilar Sanders, made sure she was there for their son, Shedeur, in Cleveland—even braving heavy rain. Ever since Shedeur, Travis Hunter, and Shilo Sanders dipped from Colorado to chase their NFL dreams, Boulder has felt a little left out, but Pilar’s dedication showed that family support comes in many forms, rain or shine. On October 22, Pilar Sanders hopped onto Instagram and uploaded a reel of her visiting her son Shedeur in the rain, captioned “Rainy day.” It was a wholesome, heartfelt video showing her journey from her home to Huntington Bank Stadium for the Browns’ Week 7 game, a 31-6 win against Mike McDaniel’s Miami Dolphins. The caption showed just how tough a mom she is: “The rain was wild and cold, but we didn’t care.” That’s the Sanders family in a nutshell. Pilar was seen wearing a black Shedeur Sanders hoodie with jet-black rain boots. Although Shedeur didn’t play and is currently the QB2 for the Browns, her showing up in the rain mattered the most. Meanwhile, Deion Sanders hasn’t attended any of Shedeur’s NFL games so far. The reason is that Deion has been extremely busy coaching at Colorado and managing serious health problems. The Buffs are going through a post-Shedeur-Travis crisis, sitting at 3-4 and ranked 14th in the Big 12, which explains why he’s missing Shedeur’s games. Although he was declared cancer-free, he still faces health struggles and recently had surgery to remove blood clots from his leg. Because of these ongoing health issues and his heavy coaching schedule, Deion hasn’t been able to travel to NFL games to watch Shedeur rock the bench. Despite this, he remains deeply committed to his family and his coaching career. His focus right now is on recovering and leading the Colorado football team, where he recently signed a contract extension through 2029. Even though Deion can’t always be there in person, we all know the level of extent Deion Sanders would go for their children. And even though Deion and Pilar aren’t together, her presence at the games shows how much their family supports Shedeur’s journey. Although their marriage ended in 2013, they came together for their children. Pilar and Deion both want the best for their son, cheering him on in different ways during this important time in his career. And that support extends to all their kids.
