The former head of a Pennsylvania county bar association will spend two to four years in prison after she stole over $300,000 and used the funds for cosmetic procedures, vacations and her family’s nonprofit organization. Attorney General Dave Sunday on Wednesday announced Robin Hagins, the former executive director of the Cambria County Bar Association, pleaded guilty to theft by unlawful taking, deceptive business practices and forgery. Between 2018 and 2023, Hagins funneled $300,000 from the bar association to pay for cosmetic procedures, vacations and a timeshare property, according to a press release. Hagins’ purchases with the misappropriated funds included Southwest Airlines tickets, Apple devices and women’s clothing. Hagins, 57, also sent money from the bar association to Cuddle For Kids, a nonprofit organization operated by her family. The press release noted Hagins similarly stole funds from Cuddle For Kids for her own personal use. “This defendant prioritized her own greed over her obligation to the bar association, and defrauded the many members who contributed valuable time, money, and other resources to benefit the organization,” Sunday said. In addition to her prison sentence, Hagins was ordered to pay the county bar association $314,759 in restitution. “The defendant’s guilty plea involves a court order to pay significant restitution, which will assist the organization that was left decimated by these criminal acts,” said Sunday. The investigation into Hagins began after the Cambria County District Attorney notified the Office of the Attorney General. It is unclear how long Hagins served as the bar association’s executive director.
