Ex-MCE Rex Asanga prioritizes youth opportunities, endorses Bawumia’s bid

Former Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Rex Asanga, has announced his retirement from what he describes as “hardcore politics,” while pledging unwavering support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential campaign.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Asanga emphasized that although he is no longer seeking political appointments, his loyalty to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) remains strong.

“Once a politician, always a politician,” he remarked. “I will continue to work for my party. I may be retired from active political pursuits, but I am still very active in supporting the NPP and Dr. Bawumia’s campaign.”

Mr. Asanga explained that his motivation is not driven by personal ambition. Instead, he believes the party should focus on creating opportunities for the younger generation, many of whom remain unemployed despite their sacrifices for the NPP.

“We should be focusing on helping these young people get positions, jobs, and employment when the party returns to power. For some of us, whether we get jobs or not, life will still move on,” he said.

He stressed that his satisfaction would come from seeing the NPP regain power under Dr. Bawumia, adding that he is ready to offer his expertise, knowledge, and strength to help achieve that goal.
