Ex-GMP chief charged with fraud over alleged false military service and Falklands War claims

A former senior GMP officer has been charged with fraud and misconduct in public office after allegedly lying about his military service. Ex-Northamptonshire Police chief constable Nick Adderley is accused of making the false claims while applying to work for the police, the Crown Prosecution Service said. The CPS said Adderley, who the head of Greater Manchester Police's Tameside division when Dale Cregan murdered PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes, is also alleged to have lied about his educational achievements. The Independent Office for Police Conduct said the charges follow investigations into allegations that from 2018 to 2024, Adderley falsely claimed to have been a former Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy, had served in the Falklands War and was entitled to wear associated service medals.
