Gaijin Entertainment recently opened the Dev Server for War Thunder’s next major update called Spearhead, giving players a deep dive into what’s to come. The server went live on October 24, 2025 (16:00 - 17:00 GMT), and will remain live till November 7, 2025 (07:00 GMT).Let's take a look at the new content you can expect from the War Thunder Spearhead update.New things to expect in War Thunder’s Spearhead updateSpearhead is a major update to War Thunder, introducing new ground and air combat additions, along with more map content. Players who enjoy ground battles will notice a complete graphical overhaul of the map. However, the gameplay remains the same as before.While the visuals have changed, Stalingrad's geometry remains almost unchanged, allowing players to navigate familiar terrain.The reworked Stalingrad is the only map available for ground battles during the Dev Server phase. This allows players to thoroughly test the changes and provide valuable feedback to the developers.How the Dev Server works in War ThunderIf you are new to War Thunder’s Dev Server system, here’s how it works:The server uses a copy of your most recent account.Whatever progress you make in the Dev Server doesn't move on to the live one. This means that all Research Points (RP), Silver Lions, and achievements you earn in the Dev Server will not carry over to the live server.Whatever in-game currency you have spent in the Dev Server does not affect your live server currency. However, whatever you purchase through the Dev Server store will carry over to your live server account.Active bonusesX5 RP and Silver Lion earnings50% cost reduction of vehiclesRP conversion using Golden Eagles is cheaper by 50%These bonuses are set in place to help testers experience the Dev Server more efficiently with an increased progression rate.Also Read: Is War Thunder still worth it in 2025?Issues related to the Dev ServerAs with every other test server, this Dev Server contains multiple bugs and unfinished assets. Most issues are related to missing textures, cockpit designs, and armor models. Some of the aircraft are affected by missing damage models and effects. In some cases, sound effects and interface icons are also absent.The MB-326K is erroneously listed as a premium vehicle, but this is expected to be corrected when the Spearhead update goes live.Spearhead promises to be a major update for War Thunder, introducing new vehicles and improved graphics.
