The two men arrested following a knife attack on a London North Eastern Railway (LNER) train are both British nationals, police have said. Several victims were left fighting for life following a series of stabbings on board the 6.25pm LNER service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross yesterday (November 1). Ten people went to hospital, nine of whom were being treated for life-threatening injuries. In an update this morning, S uperintendent John Loveless told members of the media that four people had since been discharged. Two are still fighting for life. FOLLOW LIVE UPDATES HERE Speaking to the media gathered outside Huntingdon Station in Cambridgeshire on Sunday morning, Supt Loveless gave further details on the men arrested. He said that a 32-year-old Black British national and a 35-year-old British national of Caribbean descent are in police custody held on charges of attempted murder. Supt Loveless said that both men were born in the UK. They are being held in separate police stations, he said. He added there was 'nothing to suggest' that the stabbing is a terrorist incident and that it is not appropriate to speculate on the cause of incident yet. In a separate statement on Sunday, The King has said he is “truly appalled and shocked to hear of the dreadful knife attack”, adding: “Our deepest sympathy and thoughts are with all those affected, and their loved ones.” --- Day in day out, our reporters in the Manchester Evening News newsroom bring you remarkable stories from all aspects of Mancunian life.
