Everything coming to Disney+ from comedies to live sport and huge films

Disney+ is ensuring the chillier months are filled with must-see telly, fresh films and even live sport.

The platform has arranged everything from star-studded courtroom dramas to hard-hitting documentaries and glossy Pixar animations.

Some are global releases already sparking chatter – others are brand new originals aiming to seize attention. Together they form one of the streaming service’s busiest autumns yet, , reports the Express.

Here’s what’s coming to Disney Plus this autumn

10 September

The most buzzed-about international release on Disney+ this autumn is Tempest, a Korean spy thriller already causing a stir globally. Featuring Jun Ji-hyun and Gang Dong-won, the series delves into espionage, betrayal and high-stakes politics with the kind of slick visuals and gripping cliffhangers that have made K-dramas a worldwide sensation.

With extravagant production and a plot intertwined with conspiracy, Tempest has been tipped as one of Disney+’s most ambitious non-English language projects to date.

Biopics always pull in viewers, and Swiped tells the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd, co-founder of Bumble. Portrayed by Lily James, the film traces Wolfe Herd’s journey from tech start-up roots to becoming one of the youngest self-made female billionaires.

It’s billed as a blend of inspiration and drama, spotlighting both the hurdles and innovations that shaped her career. With James in the starring role, Swiped could be one of autumn’s more high-profile Disney+ film debuts.

Sneaker Wars: Adidas V. Puma

24 September

The docuseries delves into the rivalry between Adidas and Puma, two of the biggest names in sportswear – both established by brothers whose disagreement led to one of the most intense brand battles of the 20th century.

Combining archive footage, expert interviews and behind-the-scenes business insights, Sneaker Wars illustrates how a family dispute escalated into a global market war, influencing fashion, football, and pop culture along the way. For sports enthusiasts and anyone intrigued about how branding evolved into warfare, it promises to be must-see viewing.

Chad Powers

30 September

Sports comedies are few and far between, but Chad Powers delivers both humour and heart. Glen Powell stars as an ageing quarterback who reinvents himself under a pseudonym, taking another stab at glory while concealing his true identity.

With Powell’s rising star power following roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, this series has momentum behind it. The concept blends sports underdog drama with sharp comedy, making it a wildcard contender for one of autumn’s most entertaining releases.

Murdaugh: Death in the Family

The Murdaugh case, a true-crime saga that has gripped audiences with its tale of privilege, power and shocking violence in South Carolina, is being dramatised by Disney+ in Murdaugh: Death in the Family. The series will delve into the moral complexities and ripple effects of a family dynasty undone by its own secrets, likely sparking significant discussions as true crime remains one of streaming’s most popular genres.

Disney+ is also adding some festive cheer to its autumn line-up with A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, set to premiere on 14 November. This comedy adventure features Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas racing against time to travel from London to New York for Christmas with their families.

Viewers can anticipate a series of chaotic holiday mishaps, heartwarming moments and signature Jonas humour, making it a must-watch for fans of the band and anyone seeking a light-hearted seasonal treat. The film also underscores Disney+’s ongoing commitment to producing family-friendly originals that blend star power with storytelling that appeals to all ages.

All’s Fair is also set to debut in November

Ryan Murphy is known for his ability to captivate audiences, and his latest venture, All’s Fair, is no different. This slick legal drama focuses on a team of divorce lawyers who revel in scandal and spectacle.

However, it’s the star-studded cast that truly steals the show: Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson, and Glenn Close are all part of the ensemble.

The series combines courtroom conflicts with personal drama, all underpinned by Murphy’s signature blend of glamour, grit, and star power.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians – Season 2

December 10

Rick Riordan’s popular novels already had a dedicated following before Disney+ adapted Percy Jackson and the Olympians in 2023. The first season of the show shattered records on the platform, attracting millions of viewers keen to see the contemporary take on Greek mythology.

Now, season 2 brings to life The Sea of Monsters, arguably one of the most cherished books in the series. Walker Scobell reprises his role as Percy, alongside Leah Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri.

Viewers can look forward to new adventures, mythical beasts, and a deeper exploration of Percy’s world as he confronts fresh dangers across the seas.

Release date TBA

Pixar seldom disappoints, and Elio appears set to uphold the studio’s tradition of emotive, imaginative storytelling. The animated film follows the story of 11 year old Elio, who is inadvertently transported into space and mistaken by extraterrestrials as Earth’s representative.

Blending cosmic comedy and emotional moments, the film strikes the typical Pixar balance of humour and heart. The studio’s reputation alone makes this one of the most eagerly awaited Disney+ family films of the season.

Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth

Release date TBA

A documentary carrying a heavy emotional burden, Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth sees her mother Christine retracing her daughter’s final months. Caroline, a beloved TV presenter, passed away in 2020, igniting nationwide discussions about mental health and media pressure.

The documentary pledges a deeply personal journey, with fresh insights and first-hand accounts. Given Caroline Flack’s influence on UK entertainment and the tragedy of her passing, this is anticipated to be one of the most widely debated Disney+ factual releases.

Live Football – LALIGA & UEFA Women’s Champions League

Lastly, Disney+ is courting sports fans with live football. Subscribers now have access to top-tier Spanish matches from LALIGA and every match of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

This move signifies a significant step for Disney+ as a streaming platform not only for scripted shows and films but also live sporting events. With women’s football gaining more recognition and Spanish clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid attracting global followings, this addition will be a massive attraction for sports subscribers.
