    As two new Covid variants start to rise in the UK, many may be wondering about what this could mean regarding long Covid . The ‘Stratus’ and ‘Nimbus’ variants are two of the most dominant strains at the moment, and as cases climb looking into the long lasting effects of the virus have popped up in many Brits’ minds. Long Covid, sometimes called post-Covid syndrome, occurs when symptoms of the disease last longer than 12 weeks. There are numerous common symptoms, including feeling extremely tired, shortness of breath, joint pain and memory problems, but there are also 14 other side effects which can be experienced. The NHS states: “Some symptoms may get better or come and go. You can also get new symptoms you have not had before. “You may find your symptoms get worse if you’re stressed or have been more active.” There are also tests to deem if you have long Covid, which your doctor may suggest if you ring up and pay them a visit. You may need a blood pressure and heart rate test, a blood test and even a test to measure the oxygen levels in your blood. READ MORE: All the ways to avoid catching Covid as new variant on the rise The health body explains: “They may suggest that you keep a diary to monitor your symptoms and see what makes them better or worse. “They may also refer you for other tests to help diagnose and monitor your symptoms, such as an electrocardiogram (ECG) or an X-ray . “These tests may be done by a team of different specialists at a post-COVID syndrome service.” Regarding a treatment for long Covid, there is currently no cure as research is still ongoing – but there are ways you can manage your symptoms. The NHS states: “You’ll be supported by a team of different healthcare professionals, who will look after your physical and mental health. “Your team will work with you to create a plan to help with your symptoms. “This may include
