Everest, MYO cop wins as part of last weekend’s action Oct 23, 2025 Sports GCA NBS 2nd Division 40-over tournament… (Kaieteur Sports) – Action continued this past Sunday in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/NBS 2nd Division 40-over competition, with wins for Everest and GDF following some brilliant individual performances. Everest defeated Diplomats by 8 wickets at DCC Ground Batting first, Diplomats were bowled out for 101 in 26.1 overs led by the duo of opener Deryck Babb (46) and Munesh Outar (22). Fresh off some competition in the GCB Queensway senior inter-county Super50, leg-spinning all-rounder Nityanand Mathura bagged 4-3 with help from Devindra Krishnalall who chipped in with 4-12. Everest then raced to 102-2 in just 12.4 overs after Mathura returned to score an unbeaten 46 off 33 alongside opener Varun Mangla who chipped in with 39 off 25; thus negating efforts from the Diplomats pair of Andre Foster (1-30) and Quancy Cummings (1-37). GDF suffer 8-run loss to MYO After racking up a whopping 300-9 thanks to knocks from Damion Cecil (61), Ricky Debydial (50), Leon Cecil (30), Keon Morris (28) and Kelvin Umroa (26) MYO went on to win a good game against the men from the force. Bowling for GDF, Rashaad Gaffur claimed 2-45, while Shamal Angel picked up 2-57 but their team was unfortunately kept to 292 all out from 39.3 overs, despite a brilliant counter-knock from the latter. Angel hammered a magical 114 from just 86 deliveries, with 12 fours and 5 sixes in a losing effort. Michael Deonarine (48) also missed out on a half-century as the MYO trio of Gaurav Ramesh (3-51) and two experienced campaigners in Leon Cecil (2-23), Kelvin Umroa (2-36); kept their team’s total alive.
