Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly in talks over a return to the Premier League . Ten Hag has been out of work since leaving his role as manager of Bayer Leverkusen back in September, having overseen just three competitive matches. The Dutchman had taken the role at the Bundesliga club in his first job since leaving United in October last year, where he was subsequently replaced by Ruben Amorim in the Old Trafford dugout. Since leaving Leverkusen, there have been plenty of rumours linking Ten Hag with a return to management and now the first potential opportunity for a job in the Premier League has arrived. Wolves parted company with Vitor Pereira over the weekend, creating the latest managerial vacancy in the top flight. The Athletic have reported that Wolves have opened talks with Gary O'Neill over a return to Molineux as the club's manager. It has also been reported that the West Midlands outfit have also held talks with Ten Hag about the manager's job, although it's been suggested that O'Neil is the favourite to get the role. Despite Wolves already holding talks with two potential candidates, the report claims that no appointment is expected to be made this week. As a result, a formal announcement may not happen until the November international break is underway. If Wolves were to appoint Ten Hag, there would not be a long wait for a reunion with United. The Reds are pencilled in to travel to Molineux to face Wolves on December 8 in the Premier League, which will be a Monday Night Football contest.
