EXCLUSIVE: K-pop star Eric Nam is in talks to join Loser, Radio Silence’s forthcoming feature adaptation of the award-winning short from Colleen McGuinness, who is adapting as writer, director and producer.
Character details are under wraps. As previously reported, Angourie Rice is in talks for the thriller’s lead role of Alice, a brilliant but troubled physicist who attempts to heal her trauma by using time travel, only to get caught in a twisty cat-and-mouse game of murder and violence in New York City.
Others previously announced as circling include Finn Bennett and Lukas Gage. Alongside McGuinness, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are producing on behalf of Radio Silence, with Dan Lawler (Strange Darling) and Bow and Arrow Entertainment’s Michael Sherman (Native Son) also aboard as producers.
Cast by Findley Davidson (Caught Stealing, Nonnas), the film is also expected to feature Jordan Ladd (Death Proof), Erika Henningsen (The Four Seasons), Kathleen McNenny (Morning Glory), Ana Y. Puig (Goosebumps), Eric Cheung (Dexter: Resurrection), Jerrod Haynes (Native Son), Hanna Hall (The Virgin Suicides) and newcomer Vera Briseño. Henningsen, McNenny, Briseño and Cheung would all reprise roles from the short.
WME and CAA are co-repping the project for sales.
Known for the K-pop albums Before We Begin, There and Back Again and House on a Hill, Nam’s work has earned him a Time100 Impact Award and resulted in him being named GQ Korea’s 2016 Man of the Year. He pivoted into acting only recently, with roles in the 2024 indie thriller Transplant and the upcoming The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, in which he voices the title role alongside Dave Bautista and Steven Yeun.
Currently in production on Paramount’s Untitled K-pop Project, Nam will also be seen in the upcoming season of Peacock’s The Traitors. He is repped by WME, 3 Arts and Ziffren Law.
