It wouldn’t be a Canadian Halloween if there wasn’t some unpleasant weather forecast for the outdoor, end-of-October celebration. And in keeping with that tradition, Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning, advising of “long duration rainfall” for the Kingston area through tomorrow evening. The warning, which was issued just before 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, for Kingston, Odessa and the Frontenac Islands, as well as most of eastern Ontario, states that heavy rainfall is expected with total amounts of 40 to 70 mm. “Locally higher amounts are possible,” the national weather agency stated. “A low pressure system will impact the area today into Friday. The heaviest rain is expected to fall this afternoon through Friday morning.” Environment Canada advises residents to consult their local Conservation Authority for information regarding flooding, and visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details. “Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Some travel delays are possible. Don’t drive through flooded roadways. Allow extra time for travel,” the warning reads. For those hoping to get outside for some trick-or-treating, the hourly forecast currently suggests the rain will be lighter by 6 p.m. on Halloween. Keep an eye on that forecast here. If you will be out driving on Friday, watch out for those doing their best to enjoy the evening outside!
