Plan extra time for queues. Some airports have been able to integrate the system quicker, but others, like the major hubs of Alicante and Malaga, have long, slow queues. To be safe, allocate for about an hour’s waiting time. Have your TIE, passport, and if available, any other form of documentation at the ready. Carry other documentation to prove the validity of your trip or holiday. (Hotel bookings, proof of any business if it is a business trip, a return ticket, and proof of funds or insurance.) Upon your first entry, your fingerprints and digital face photo may be taken. Be prepared for this possibility, and allow substantial time for the process to roll out before your flight. Patience: The EES, being a more digitalised system, may be subject to glitches and other technical difficulties. It is important, while the system is still in its early stages, to arrive early for the flight and account for confusion, problems, or long processes.
