Energy and sports drinks key to profit boost for Irn-Bru maker

Irn-Bru manufacturer AG Barr announced a boost in sales and profits, attributing the positive performance to price adjustments implemented earlier in the year.

The Scottish beverage firm reported revenues climbed by 3.1 per cent to £228.1 million and pre-tax profits jumped by 41.4 per cent to £35.2 million for the 26 weeks ending 26 July.

Strong demand for sports drinks, energy drinks, and water, including double-digit growth for its Boost energy drink brand, underpinned this financial growth.

Chief executive Euan Sutherland stated the business is making ‘good progress’ in positioning itself for sustained future growth, investing in brands, operations, and people.

AG Barr is also expanding into health-focused functional drinks, highlighted by its recent deal to acquire a majority stake in Innate-Essence Ltd, parent company of The Turmeric Co.
