The upcoming Hindi film Haq, starring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam, is expected to open with a collection of around ₹2-2.5cr on its first day (on Friday). The movie is being praised for its compelling portrayal of a landmark case where a Muslim woman sues her husband for abandoning her and their kids after marrying another woman. Trade experts believe that positive word-of-mouth reviews could further boost the film's earnings over the weekend. Film critic and trade expert Taran Adarsh, who gave Haq a solid 4/5 stars on X, told Zoom that he believes the film's business will multiply on Saturday and Sunday. It is sure to spark conversations, ignite debates... Every person, irrespective of gender, should watch it, he said. Trade analyst Girish Johar added that Haq is gaining traction in urban markets with a strategic release in multiplexes across major metro cities. Johar said, It has a strong message, based on the incident that happened in the past, but with powerful performances by Emraan and Yami. He predicted an opening collection of ₹2-3cr domestically. Industry expert Akkshay Rathie called Haq a movie that's not about a ballistic opening but about word of mouth. He estimated an opening collection of ₹2-2.5cr under reasonable circumstances. Haq, directed by Suparn S Varma, is a social drama based on a real case that continues to be relevant today. In 1985, a 62-year-old Muslim woman, Shah Bano, approached the Supreme Court after being divorced through triple talaq and denied maintenance by her former husband. The film will release in theaters on November 7 and has been backed by Junglee Pictures.
