The Tema West Municipal Assembly recently held a special inauguration ceremony to welcome a new group of police and fire service assistants who have just completed their training. This event, organized by the Youth Employment Agency Unit, marks a significant step in strengthening the security framework within the community. The ceremony attracted several important figures, including the Regional YEA Director Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Juda, Tema West Constituency Chairman Mallam Issah Mohammed, various police and fire officials, as well as assembly members and commanders from different units.
During the inauguration, Hon. Fawziah Mohammed, the YEA Director at the Tema West Assembly, took the lead in organizing the program to officially introduce the new assistants to the public. The event highlighted the importance of involving young people in community safety and provided an opportunity to recognize the efforts of those who have successfully completed their rigorous training. This group of youth is expected to play a key role in supporting the existing security teams within the municipality.
Hon. Ludwig Teye Totimeh, the Municipal Chief Executive for Tema West, spoke passionately about the goals behind this initiative. He explained that the community police and fire service assistants program aims to tackle the challenges faced by security agencies by engaging the youth. The program is designed not only to provide employment opportunities but also to ensure that the community remains safe and orderly. According to him, these young assistants will be an important part of bridging the gap in security personnel and enhancing the overall effectiveness of local security services.
The Regional YEA Director, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Juda, encouraged the new recruits by emphasizing that the knowledge and skills they have gained during their training open doors for them to be fully recruited into the police and fire services in the future. He expressed confidence that with continued dedication and hard work, these young men and women have a strong chance of becoming official members of Ghana’s security forces, contributing even more to the safety of the Tema West community.
