Galway Autism Partnership (GAP ), a registered charity based in Galway city, is committed to supporting autistic people and the dedicated carers in their lives. As part of this mission, GAP is proud to launch a transformative Career Guidance and Well-being Programme designed specifically for family carers and young carers under 25, funded by the Pobal Dormant Accounts Fund Scheme. This initiative will support 20 adult carers and 20 young carers as they balance their caregiving responsibilities with personal and professional development. Whether you are currently in or starting education or employment—or looking to return after time away—this programme provides the tools, confidence, and support needed to take the next step. A holistic programme with real impact The programme is structured around four key pillars: career guidance, therapeutic support, life coaching, and peer networking—blending practical career development with mental health and well-being supports. Participants will benefit from: • Career planning and employability skills: One-to-one and group support in CV writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, personal statements, and course selection—alongside opportunities to research and discover potential career opportunities. • Therapeutic support: Access to professional counselling in a safe, non-judgmental environment to help process the emotional challenges of caregiving, reduce stress, and build resilience. • Well-being activities: A variety of supportive sessions such as yoga, mindfulness, and wellness workshops, all designed to enhance emotional well-being and reduce burnout. • Life coaching: Practical and powerful, life coaching will help participants draw on their inner motivation, set meaningful goals, and move forward with clarity and confidence. These elements work together to not only enhance mental health and emotional well-being but to directly complement career development—helping participants show up as their best selves in both personal and professional spaces. Sessions will be delivered through a mix of interactive online webinars and engaging in-person workshops, offering flexibility to suit different schedules and needs. Transforming lives Past participants have gone on to secure employment, enrol in training and education programmes, and gain valuable insights into careers they once considered out of reach. The programme opens doors and builds bridges—both practical and emotional—for carers who often put their own aspirations on hold. No matter where you are in your caregiving, educational, or employment journey, it is never too late to start. Let Galway Autism Partnership support you on that journey. The programme is due to start soon, and places are limited, so do not delay and apply today.
