As Emmerdale heads toward some of its most emotional scenes of the year, all eyes are on Gabby and Vinny, whose future looks increasingly uncertain. With a wedding, hidden truths bubbling under the surface, and fan theories swirling online, viewers are bracing for fallout.

Metro caught up with stars Bradley Johnson, Rosie Bentham, and Lisa Riley at the Inside Soap Awards, where they teased what’s to come, and whether there’s any hope for a happily ever after.

‘He’s in a bit of a predicament…’

Speaking about the upcoming episodes, Bradley Johnson revealed that Vinny is about to hit a crossroads, one that could cost him everything.

‘He’s in a bit of a predicament, our Vin,’ Bradley admitted. ‘He wants to do the right thing but he’s so scared of his secret coming out and that Gabby’s going to find out about him questioning his sexuality and stuff. I think we’ve seen some spoilers that Gabby turns up at court, so it’s whether he goes through with it and puts Mike behind bars or chickens out to save his own relationship. That’s all to come this week.’

It’s a storyline that’s been brewing for months, with Vinny quietly struggling with his identity while trying to keep up appearances. The tension is only mounting as the wedding looms, and the truth edges closer to the surface.

As with many soap relationships, the question isn’t just about whether one person’s secret can be forgiven, but whether both are being honest. And according to the cast, Gabby’s got her own baggage to unpack.

‘I would like to think so,’ Bradley said, when asked if their relationship could survive the reveal. ‘It’s whether Gabby is holding any secrets she needs to tell Vinny about. That’s all I can say on that!’

Co-star Lisa Riley couldn’t resist teasing fans:

‘What happens in Portugal stays in Portugal!’

For Rosie Bentham, who plays Gabby, the layers of secrets and denial are setting the stage for major drama.

‘It’s a recipe for disaster, isn’t it? It’s just chaos,” Rosie said. “There have been so many little lies along the way, with him getting beaten up and stuff. I think Gabby has just been in her own little world. It’s so obvious something’s up with Vinny and she’s just ‘La la la, wedding, wedding dress, party.’

Sadly though, that dreamy, bridal bubble may be about to burst.

‘My mum came back, Sam Giles who plays Bernice, which was really fun. Filming the wedding was such a highlight,’ Rosie added. ‘There’s definitely some skeletons in the closet that need to come out and need to be chatted about. I don’t know if it’ll be a happy ending. I hope it is, because I love working with Bradley and he’s such a gem and it’s such good fun. And I’m a Dingle!’

Love, drama, and the big house

Whether or not the relationship survives, Rosie is clearly loving her time on set, especially the dynamic between Gabby and some of the village’s power players.

‘I love working at the big house with Kim and everyone. She always finds her way back to that and those big business, feisty roots. It’s fun.’

The Home Farm setting has long been central to some of Emmerdale’s biggest plots, and Gabby’s entanglement in the world of power, inheritance, and ambition has kept her at the heart of the drama.

The Gabby and Vinny storyline is just one part of what’s already been a standout year for the soap, with complex emotional arcs, returning favourites, and powerful performances across the board.

For Rosie, this year brought one of her character’s biggest life events yet.

‘Well I got married, so that was exciting,’ she said, smiling. ‘Obviously we don’t know what’s going on with that yet, it’s not quite out how that goes. The storyline with Bradley Johnson and Vinny struggling with his sexuality has been really, really good. There’s lots of good stuff coming up with that.’

And for Bradley, the opportunity to explore such a sensitive and timely storyline has been a career-defining moment. His portrayal of Vinny’s internal conflict has drawn praise from fans online, many of whom have applauded the show’s thoughtful approach to exploring sexuality and mental health within a long-standing character.

With emotional confrontations on the horizon and the possibility of multiple secrets exploding at once, fans are left wondering: can Gabby and Vinny survive the truth?

From the actors’ hints, it sounds like Emmerdale is setting up for some jam-packed action with twists, heartache, and possibly a few surprises no one saw coming.
