    Emmerdale star rejected from primetime show after 'not very family-friendly' audition

    A former Emmerdale favourite has spilled the beans on being turned down for a major reality TV gig.

    Alexander Lincoln, who became a household name as Joe Tate on the ITV soap since his arrival in 2019, quickly won over fans as Kim Tate’s (played by Claire King) son Jamie.

    He was at the heart of many explosive plots, including feuds aplenty, a rocky relationship with Kim, and becoming a dad to Gabby Thomas’ (Rosie Bentham) baby.

    However, in 2021, Alexander bid farewell to the Dales, with his character Jamie bowing out after staging his own death in a dramatic car crash. While Kim mourned, Jamie slipped away to start anew with his daughter Millie and her grandmother.

    Post-Emmerdale, Alexander hasn’t slowed down, securing roles in BBC’s Doctors, the comedy-drama Everything I Know About Love, and the critically acclaimed film In from the Side.

    But it seems he almost glided onto our screens in ITV’s Dancing on Ice. Unfortunately, his audition didn’t quite cut the ice, reports the Daily Star.

    In a candid clip posted on Attitude’s Instagram, Alexander confessed: “I am terrible at ice skating. I did the worst, worst audition for Dancing on Ice once, in which I didn’t get it,” he shared. Reflecting on the experience, Alexander remarked: “It wasn’t family-friendly enough.”

    Despite missing out on Dancing on Ice, Alexander hasn’t let that dampen his spirits, continuing to thrive in his acting pursuits.

    This year, he landed a leading role in a Hollywood film, The Groomsmen: Second Chances, which made history as Hallmark Channel’s first-ever gay wedding story film.

    Alexander portrays Zack in the movie, which was released last week in the US, and he shares the screen with stars like Mean Girls’ Jonathan Bennett, B. J. Britt and Owen Davis.

    The plot revolves around Danny (Jonathan Bennett) who jets off to Greece to organise his friend and business manager Zack’s (Alexander Lincoln) wedding to a lawyer. However, before long, Danny realises he has feelings for Zack and is in love with him.

    Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
