Emmerdale viewers are convinced they have worked out Kev Townsend's true intentions as they claim he isn't really dying. Ex-convict Kev, played by Chris Coghill, recently arrived in the Dales as the surprise husband of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) after they met in prison. Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) was furious to discover that Robert was married as the former couple were trying to get their romance back on track. Robert explained how Kev's heart condition means he doesn't have long to live and was released from prison on compassionate grounds. Kev then suffered a heart attack, leaving Robert torn between the two men before choosing his dying, wealthy husband. Kev’s violent but loving nature is clearly an issue, and Robert has attempted to put some distance between himself and Aaron in a bid to protect his former flame. However, Kev and Robert plan their vow renewal, some Emmerdale fans are convinced Kev is lying about his terminal health condition in a bid to keep Robert, as they demand the "lovable" character stay on the show long-term. Taking to Reddit, one person wrote: "Honestly, I'm kinda hoping that the show either has Kev get cured or it turns out that his illness has been a big lie as I'm really loving him so far ( he's weirdly kinda cute)." A second urged: "100% agree. Excellent character and great actor. I adore him, even when he’s being naughty, even if they don’t keep him with Suggers, I’d like him to stick around for a while longer." A third explained: "I agree, I like him so far. I think they've purposely kept his dynamic with Robert quite ambiguous, I guess with the build up to one of those special episodes focusing on them in prison. I imagine that'll answer a lot of questions around their relationship and how 'willing' Robert really is in it all." "I hope it wasn't abusive, Kev's health is salvageable and he can stick around longer term. But I guess it also depends on how this whole thing with Aaron ends. I'm not sure I can handle it if the end result is that they all continue sulking about around each other long term!", wrote one viewer. "Maybe he faked his illness with the help of a prison guard kinda like what Bert did in the recent ITV Mini-Series Frauds with faking she had cancer so as to get out of prison before her sentence was up on compassionate grounds!" added another. The ITV soap is set to air a special flashback episode that focuses on Kev and Roberts backstory in prison. Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX
