Emmerdale Celia Daniels star's real age as she shares secret to staying youthful

Emmerdale star Jaye Griffiths has revealed the secret behind her age-defying appearance. The actress joined the ITV soap this year as farmer Celia – and quickly began causing chaos. As Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) neighbouring tenant, the pair entered into a business partnership – but this week delivered a shocking revelation about Celia. Thursday evening’s episode (October 2) saw Celia brutally strike April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), leaving viewers stunned – as it emerged that Celia is the criminal mastermind orchestrating the drugs operation. Celia menacingly cautioned April about the regulations and repercussions of contacting the authorities, even making threats against her life, reports the Daily Star . Amidst all the television mayhem, actress Jaye joined Loose Women on Friday (October 3) to discuss her Yorkshire Dales role. Speaking to the presenters, the television personality cautioned that situations are “going to get worse”. The discussion then shifted to focus on Jaye’s age. Presenter Kaye Adams commented: “You’re 61, 62 coming up and you’ve spoken about the parts you get as an older actor, but your age is utterly irrelevant [playing Ceilia].” Katie Piper then enquired: “You’re really into your running?” to which Jaye responded: “Yes I’m fitter now than I was 30!”. Meanwhile, discussing portraying antagonist Celia, Jaye commented: “I love her. It’s so great you just let go of any consciousness of empathy and turn it all up! She doesn’t care.” Jaye Griffiths, best known for her roles in Emmerdale and ITV’s The Bill, has also graced the screens in BBC shows like Bugs and Doctors, as well as Casualty and its spin-off series Holby City. Speaking about her character Celia, Jaye once said: “She’s single-minded, and if you get in her way – get out of her way. This is what I love about her. She doesn’t understand why you people don’t understand. Do what I want or suffer the consequences!”. “It’s not complicated – just do what I want you to do and all will be well. When she meets resistance, that’s when the fun begins, because she’ll deal with you differently as she deals with every person in the village differently, according to their character which she is very good at summing up very quickly. She’s not evil, she’s just… different!” Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
