According to the non-profit organization’s website, SameYou is a brain injury recovery charity that “works to develop better mental health recovery treatment for survivors, raises awareness and advocates for improvement in rehabilitation provision.” During the early seasons of filming for Game of Thrones, Clarke suffered two brain hemorrhages. “In early 2011, I was struck by the first of two brain hemorrhages,” she said in a statement shared on the charity’s website. “I am hardly unique or alone in that. 1 in 3 people will suffer a brain injury in their lifetime. That number is huge. It’s almost double the number of people who will develop dementia. It’s shocking to me—and you too, probably—that such a common health problem is so little known and barely spoken about. I made a full recovery but many more people don’t, and I want to break the silence on this common, silent and devastating condition.” Game of Thrones aired for eight seasons from 2011 to 2019. Since then, Clarke has appeared in Last Christmas, The Pod Generation, The Amazing Maurice and more.
