For those who are unaware, the centralized infrastructure upon which signal does not necessarily put encrypted communications through signal at any risk because Signal does not hold the keys to encrypted data held in that infra. On the other hand, the security experts all over the globe have said that any app claiming to offer encrypted messaging should be open-source in order to establish trust.
