Electricity Will Lead Global Energy Mix, Says Schneider Electric CEO

Olivier Bloom, Chief Executive Officer of Schneider Electric, speaks at his company's Innovation Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 22, 2025. Mertz / Schneider Electric, October 2025. As the energy transition era unfolds, the world’s energy future is electric, according to Olivier Blum, chief executive officer of Schneider Electric (EPA: SU), one of the world’s largest energy management and industrial automation companies. Speaking at his company’s Innovation Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark on Wednesday, Blum said: "It is our absolute conviction that electrical energy is the most efficient form of energy in the energy transition era. This transition is happening at homes, industries and businesses - we’re all living through a time of profound change. “The changes we're witnessing, across both climate and technology, aren't just challenges. They're signals that our industry must evolve.” Blum said such a direction of travel for humanity offered Schneider Electric a chance to “electrify, automate, and digitalize” every industry, business, and home, driving efficiency and sustainability for all. “In leading the convergence of the three, i.e. electrification, automation, and digitalization, we can build a future where energy is not just available, but intelligent. And in the process, invent the technology that makes the energy transition possible,” he added. Blum also emphasised the urgency of this approach with global power needs expected to grow by 60% over the next 15 years, intensifying pressure on infrastructure. Meanwhile renewables, especially solar and wind, are expected to triple in share by 2030, demanding smarter, more resilient power grids. MORE FOR YOU "We cannot just react to these changes," he added. "We have to lead. Our goal is to help our partners, our customers, and our industry not just adapt, but thrive in this new era." Eyeing the approaching horizon, Schneider Electric is upscaling its real-time energy and automation products suite, according to Blum, with scalable software and services across several segments of the global economy, including buildings, data centres, factories, plants, grids, and infrastructure. Through its EcoStruxure platform, the company offers to embed intelligence at every level, simplifying complexity, enabling more efficient operations, and helping customers unlock the full value of energy and resources. “This unique approach creates connected ecosystems where Al, data, and people work together seamlessly,” Blum noted. Coming Soon To A Smart City Near You The company also continues to advance its own concepts on future smart cities with urbanization and management of the baseload power management of urban centers becoming a rising cause for the world to address. In line with this thinking, earlier this year Schneider Electric launched its “Impact Building” program with a first site in Dubai. The NEST, Schneider Electric’s new office in Emirate launched in May in collaboration with real estate and property management firm JLL is over 10,000 square meters and can house over 1,000 employees deploying what it describes as state of the art energy optimization and management solutions. The project, conceived three years ago, and completed within four months, expects an energy consumption reduction of 37% compared to the previous local site and provides a targeted saving of 572 metric tons of CO₂ emissions, the equivalent to the annual electrical power consumed by around 77 homes. It deploys digital energy solutions and smart sensors for data gathering for management, maintenance and optimized day to day running of the building from booking desks to management of basic daily needs ranging from lighting to temperature control. With buildings accounting for 37% of global carbon emissions, Schneider Electric is eyeing emerging business opportunities in the intelligent, sustainable spaces its technology can create. “The Impact Buildings Program will roll out across additional new sites well as existing buildings by retrofit over the next 18 months, creating a model for next-generation buildings,” said Manish Kumar, Executive Vice President, Digital Energy at Schneider Electric. “We are creating the vision of what’s possible by transforming our own sites to show that buildings must evolve to meet tomorrow’s business needs. Now is the time to rethink buildings. We are shaping a future where buildings don't just stand—they intelligently adapt and seamlessly connect to your business, your people, and your purpose.” Launch Of A Dedicated Consulting Service Earlier in the day, Schneider Electric announced the launch of SE Advisory Services - its new dedicated global consulting outfit. It will provide a broad range of solutions tailored to help organisations and individuals solve “complex challenges” in the energy and industry space. "Times of uncertainty require one thing above all, clarity and knowledge of what you can control. As such, we have taken our consulting capabilities from across Schneider Electric and combined them to enable our clients to move with greater speed and confidence, and unlock capabilities to solve pressing energy, sustainability, and technology challenges," said Frédéric Godemel, executive vice president, energy management, Schneider Electric. “Consulting services are not new at Schneider Electric and have proven invaluable to clients in the past. Today, we’re evolving that offering to give clients clarity and a clear path toward net zero.” Editorial StandardsReprints & Permissions
