FGM could be kingmaker
Elections for the Chair and Vice Chair of three regions following the September 1st elections will provide an early insight into alliance politics and in two races the new party, Forward Guyana Movement (FGM) could be the kingmaker.
None of the parties which will be participating in the voting has commented publicly on what they will do although analysts say it is unlikely that any of the opposition parties will team up with the ruling PPP/C no matter what might be offered.
The meetings for elections of regional councils are expected to be summoned shortly and there will be high interest in what happens in the all-important Region Four where the ruling PPP/C captured plurality for the first time but fell short of an outright majority.
