PARMA, Ohio -- Voters on Election Day decided four ward races. The results included Ward 3 where John Soeder (D), who was appointed earlier this year, receiving 806 votes over nonpartisan Dale K. Dotson with 402 votes -- according to final, unofficial results from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. In Ward 7, incumbent Kammy Shuman (D) was reelected with 1,086 votes over second-time challenger Danielle Downs (R) with 705 votes. Ward 8 incumbent Amanda Boyd (D) received 878 votes to defeat Robert Porvasnik (R) with 463 votes and Debbie Tabasso (nonpartisan) with 247 votes. Finally, Ward 9’s Robert B. Euerle (nonpartisan) with 1,008 votes defeated Andy Schofield (D) with 928 votes. Running unopposed were Council President Vito Dipierro (D), Ward 1’s Monica Wilson (D), Ward 2’s Deborah A. Lime (D), Ward 4’s Kelly M. Zacharias (D), Ward 5’s Allan Divis (D) and Ward 6’s Kevin C. Kussmaul (R). The two-year term for City Council includes a $25,736 salary with the council president earning $28,118. Regarding the strong showing by City Council incumbents, Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter said, “I think the results show that residents like the direction of the city and appreciate the leadership and hard work among their elected officials.” Also without competition was Parma Treasurer Thomas Mastroianni, who was elected to his fourth term in office. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to continue serving as treasurer of Parma,” Mastroianni previously told cleveland.com. “Being unopposed again is very humbling and a strong sign that our community has trust in the work our office has done. I believe people know we are managing taxpayer dollars responsibly. “I truly love this position because it allows me to make a direct, positive impact on the financial health of our city. I’ll continue to work hard every day to maintain your trust.”
