Real Madrid and Barcelona stars were embroiled in a brawl at full-time of El Clasico. Los Blancos hosted their fierce rivals at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday and claimed all three points thanks to Jude Bellingham’s winner in the 2-1 victory, moving five points clear at the top of La Liga. And at the full-time whistle, tensions boiled over as a melee started between the two teams. The atmosphere was already at fever pitch with players having to be separated in clashes in the final minutes of the match. The incident was sparked when Barcelona midfielder Pedri received a second yellow card for a foul on Aurelien Tchouameni in the 10th minute of added time. After the referee's full-time whistle, a huge melee involving nearly all of the players from both clubs started in the centre circle. Both benches also erupted on the sidelines with Real boss Xabi Alonso entering the pitch to drag his players away. Thibaut Courtois was left particularly incensed with Lamine Yamal as he berated the teenager. Yamal was quickly guided down the tunnel where his team-mate Raphinha was being dragged away from a separate confrontation. Yamal also exchanged words with Vinicius Junior and Dani Carvajal, with the latter making a gesture to the winger, implying that he should shut his mouth. Speaking to Movistar, Frenkie de Jong explained his version on the full-time events. ”I didn’t see what happened. I was on the bench and saw a lot of people. When the referee blew his whistle, Real Madrid players went after Lamine. It’s a bit exaggerated. You’d have to ask them,” he said. “In the first half we weren’t sharp with the ball. Madrid hurt with their players up front. In the second half we lacked the ability to create danger and clear chances. “Carvajal can speak to him privately. Making the gesture on the pitch is more of the same. If you’re a teammate of Lamine and you want him to keep his statements to a minimum, you can speak privately. ”What has Lamine said? Has he said that Madrid steal? He has not said it, not directly. People are saying things to him, but I haven’t heard Lamine say anything like that.” At the end of the handbags, Real were able to celebrate properly as a group before joining in with their supporters' joy. Kylian Mbappe gave Real the lead after just 22 minutes, but the Frenchman's goal was cancelled out by Fermin Lopez in the 38th minute. Bellingham was then the man in the right spot to tap Real back in front five minutes later in what would be the match-winning goal. Real are now five points clear with 10 games played and have lost just one game all season, winning the other nine.
