Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will record a landslide victory in all 177 wards of the state in the June 20, 2026, governorship election. Oyebanji made the declaration on Saturday at his ward in Ikogosi-Ekiti during the party’s delegates congress held across the state ahead of Monday’s governorship primaries. The governor said his administration’s performance and efforts to make the APC attractive to both members and opposition supporters had strengthened the party’s chances of sweeping the polls. “You can see that our members are happy and united in one accord to exercise their franchise. “You can also see that in all the wards, delegates were elected by consensus, which speaks to the unity between the leadership and the membership of the party in Ekiti State. “In the last three years that we have been at the saddle, we have made the party more attractive to people, we have had a lot of members coming in from other parties to join APC because we have been able to deliver on various deliverables. “I can assure you with God being on our side, the record we want to break, by the grace of God, on June 20 next year, is the record of winning 177 wards. “It has never happened in the history of this State before, but on June 20 next year, God being on our side, APC will win convincingly all the 177 wards,” Oyebanji said. The governor also commended party members for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the ward congresses, describing it as “another demonstration of the maturity and unity” that define the APC in Ekiti State. He noted that delegates were elected by consensus across all wards, reflecting harmony between party leadership and members. The APC National Working Committee had earlier announced Oyebanji as the party’s consensus governorship candidate following the withdrawal of Mrs Atinuke Olayemi Omolayo, leaving the governor as the sole aspirant for the 2026 poll. The other two aspirants, Kayode Ojo and Abimbola Olawumi, were disqualified by the party. Chairman of the APC Delegates Congress Committee for Ekiti State and Edo APC chairman, Jaret Tenebe, who monitored the exercise, lauded the peaceful process and praised Oyebanji for strengthening the party’s structure. “Our team has moved around all local governments and various wards in the state. I commend Governor Biodun Oyebanji for making the party more proud,” Tenebe said. He congratulated the newly elected delegates and expressed optimism that the unity witnessed during the congress would translate into victory for the party in next year’s election.
