EgyptAir steals show at World Travel Market in London

National carrier announces West Ham sponsorship and new Cairo–Sharjah flights By Mohamed Attia EgyptAir made a remarkable impact at this year’s World Travel Market (WTM) in London, one of the world’s largest and most influential tourism and aviation exhibitions. The national carrier showcased its strategic expansion plans, signed new cooperation agreements, and unveiled a sports sponsorship with West Ham United Football Club, strengthening its global brand presence. The official EgyptAir delegation was led by Pilot Ahmed Adel, Chairman and Managing Director of the EgyptAir Holding Company, and included Captain Sherif Khalil, Assistant Chairman of the Holding Company; Captain Mohamed Alian, Chairman of EgyptAir Airlines; Amr Abouy, Head of Corporate Affairs; and Ashraf Rateb, Head of Tourism (Karnak) at EgyptAir Airlines. On the sidelines of the exhibition, Minister of Tourism Sherif Fathy met with Pilot Ahmed Adel, who congratulated him on the upcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum. The two discussed expanding cooperation between the ministry and EgyptAir in promoting Egypt’s tourist destinations—especially wellness and medical tourism. Within the same framework, Pilot Adel met with Ali Salem, Chairman of Sharjah Airport, where both sides agreed to increase the number of flights between Cairo and Sharjah to meet growing travel demand between Egypt and the UAE. EgyptAir’s pavilion also hosted a series of high-level meetings with airline executives, travel agencies, and international airport representatives. The discussions focused on expanding EgyptAir’s network to new global destinations and enhancing coordination with partner airlines. A notable meeting was held with senior officials from the Saudi Tourism Authority, including Ahmed Abdel Karim, Vice President of Aviation, and Youssef Adel Mahraji, Director of Aviation Partnerships, to explore increasing flight frequencies between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. EgyptAir’s marketing expansion also took center stage through discussions with West Ham United FC, signaling the company’s entry into international sports sponsorship. Additionally, talks with Birmingham International Airport focused on launching a new flight route between Egypt and the UK, highlighting rising demand for direct travel links. The delegation further met with representatives of Aeroservices, a leading British aerospace company, to discuss cooperation in aircraft spare parts, supply chains, and maintenance support for EgyptAir’s growing fleet. Pilot Ahmed Adel expressed pride in EgyptAir’s strong presence at WTM 2025, emphasizing that the company’s pavilion drew significant attention and reaffirmed its position as a leading global airline. “Our participation reflects EgyptAir’s ongoing strategy to expand its international reach, support tourism to Egypt, and strengthen partnerships with global aviation and travel players,” he said. The EgyptAir pavilion attracted thousands of visitors with engaging activities, including raffles and a “wheel of fortune,” offering prizes and souvenirs. The lively setup underscored the airline’s commitment to connecting directly with its customers and promoting Egypt as a premier global travel destination.
